Let me express my deepest respect to Lord Buddha, every guardian god, and Budhisattva Ko-en, our great guardian saint, for the completion of the two-storied pagoda.

It has been believed a great pious act to build a pagoda in the precinct of a temple, and we were in the midst of building the five-storied pagoda when the Great Hanshin- Awaji Earthquake occurred on January 17, 1995.

Then it was very soon after the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011 that we reconstructed the South Gate of our temple.  And we are celebrating the completion of the splendid two-storied pagoda after the Kumamoto Earthquake took place in the middle of April in 2016.

We built it for the 850th anniversary of Budhisattva Ko-en who offered his own life in 1168 for the salvation of ordinary people.  It is a miraculous coincidence indeed, and I accept it as a message from Budhisata Ko-en, our guardian saint, to encourage me to make more effort for the salvation of people and making them live in peace and comfort.

It is my great pleasure to hold this ceremony, attended by Rev. Ohya Jitsu-en, the head priest of the Saidai-ji Tempple, his important disciples, and honorable guests and many pious members of our temple.    I believe this could be a special opportunity to discover a righteous way of living as a Buddhist and to set about building a Bud- dhism-centered nation.

I wish all the congregation will be blessed with Lord Buddha’s providence and make every effort to clean up and purify our society, since it meets Lord Buddha’s expectations.  All the members of our temple will bear in their mind the wishes of Budhisata Ko-en’s and think of the motto “reflection, gratitude, and volunteering” as they look up at the new pagoda and as they perform their service in the morning and in the evening as well.

May every person would feel his or her hope and courage rise up as they look up at this pagoda!  May a longing for a harmony of mankind and peace on earth be heightened in their heart!  May natural disasters and international confusions be lessened and the world be blessed with peace and order as long as this pagoda stands at this place!  May Budhisattva Ko-en’s oath be completed by his spiritual power and as a result the world be made more harmonious all over!  May the wishes of all the members of our temple be realized and their sense of gratitude spread to their neighbors and make them feel happy!

Let me express my wishes furthermore.  They are peace of our nation, safety of the Imperial family, peace of the world, spreading of Buddhism, harmony of every religion, safety of our temple buildings, salvation of mankind, no conflict of nations, tranquility of the seas, long life of every creature, security of mankind, harmony of every ethnic, richness of all the people.

Together with these I do wish all the victims of the earthquakes and other natural disasters will be prayed for therRepose of their soul, and I pray for the health of all the bereaved, and especially the recovery from the disaster as soon as possible.

Last but not least I pray for the health and well-being of the congregation today, fortune and prosperity of their descendants, and a reciprocal relationship among the all the Buddist temples.

Dedicated by Rev.Eisho, head priest of the Rengein Tanjyouji Temple
